Optimal EFT is very similar to Reiki, and especially the Seichem, Tera-Mai and Karuna varieties (there are about 150 varieties today). Optimal EFT is such a simple refinement and while not always suitable, it is a real gem in most cases where a client wants more targeted help from a Reiki or Spiritual Healing session. People have been comparing Gary Craig’s latest offering to practical and distance healing, and this article explains the differences and refinements to the healing arts closest to this new method.

With most Reiki, and certainly with Spiritual Healing, you don’t want to direct the energy at anything specific. You allow healing for the Greater Good to go where it is needed most. You may intend this energy to be directed at a specific issue, but that is all you can do. With optimal EFT, you direct the energy very specifically to the exact problem. Being a general is a no-no. For example, if the problem is knee pain, you are very specific about where the pain is in the knee and rate the level of discomfort from 10 to 0, with 10 being worst and 0 being neutral. You keep going until you reach zero. If the problem is your mother, you get very specific and find an incident, a separate real event that happened, for example, “when I was 4 years old and my mother dropped my book.” Again, lose the distress level of that memory from 10-0, with 10 being worst and 0 being neutral. You keep going until you reach zero.

With Reiki, we invite Reiki energy to do the healing. With Optimal EFT, this is called “The Unseen Therapist.”

With Seichem Reiki, any resistance to healing on the client’s part is literally released by picking up the energy block in their hands and throwing it into the violet flame. The use of symbols is used to release any resistance or preconceptions on the part of the healer. With Optimal EFT, this is released by negotiating with “The Guard at the Door” to open the door to healing.

You may want to try Optimal EFT, especially if you are already a Reiki or spiritual healer. You can then compare the two for yourself and see what feels right. Yes, there is a need to be an observer and let Reiki drift where it is most needed. But there is also a great need to direct energy with the knowledge of how to do EFT. This combination is dynamite, in my opinion. If you are interested in Optimal EFT, full instructions can be found on the founders’ site (Gary Craig) which is currently offered free of charge. If you are interested in learning Reiki, simply Google “Reiki Course” and your area, and call a few Master Teachers, talk to them, and decide which one resonates with you the most.
