I hear people all the time complain about their employment situation over and over again. I know a few people who have had the same job for as long as I’ve known them and even though they’ve stayed in the same place for 30 years, every time I see them they tell me how much they hate their job. They complain that their boss doesn’t treat them well and how boring he is.
I don’t understand!
Why would someone stay in a situation that brings them nothing but unhappiness? I have even heard these same people tell me that they are always looking but can’t find a job that is “as good as” the one they currently have.
Hey? are you kidding?
Being an entrepreneur, I normally recommend starting your own business. I think if you find something you’re very passionate about, that you’d love to do every day, and you think about how to turn that passion into a business, you might find something that could make for a great living.
Most importantly, it can improve your quality of life immensely! All the money in the world is worthless if your quality of life sucks.
I’m not saying that starting a business is always the answer; in fact, I don’t think most people in this world are cut out to be business owners. The problem is that there are still a lot of people who are, and many of these people never give it a chance.
It wouldn’t matter if they had a foolproof business plan, all the financial backing in the world, and Donald Trump whispering in their ear guiding them all the way. They will still stay in that shitty job and whine and moan every day like they have for the last 30 years.
Why the hell would anyone submit to that? Well, the answer is very easy.
They are afraid of failure!
I personally believe that the fear of failure is completely irrational.
I am extremely competitive and hate losing more than most people I know, but I could NEVER imagine spending my last few seconds reviewing my life and realizing that I never put myself in a position to succeed because I was afraid of failing.
I’m not just talking about financial success or just business ownership. I’m talking about anything.
There are people who never get married because they are too afraid of failing and getting divorced. There are others who never try to get an education because they are afraid of failing and ultimately failing. And then there are the others who spend every day hating their job but never look for another because they fear the new job won’t work.
I once heard a scary acronym that couldn’t be more accurate. That acronym is…
Fmore meevidence HASwaiting R.goose
The next time you find yourself paralyzed with fear or don’t act because you’re afraid, it won’t work.
Stop for a second…
Imagine the worst possible outcome that could happen if you fail…
And ask yourself if you could live with that if that outcome were to happen.
If the answer is yes (and in almost all cases it will be), TAKE ADVANTAGE!
I promise you that the price you will pay for failing will be much less than the price you will pay for regretting that you did not have the opportunity to improve your life.
The most successful people in the world have failed over and over again until they finally succeed, and then people point at them and say how “lucky” they are. They are down on their luck and in some cases no smarter than the average person. They were just determined to keep going and going until they did it…and they did!
It’s funny how small failures seem once you’ve finally succeeded.
If you have something you wanted to do, but haven’t moved on because you’re afraid it won’t work, I hope this article helps give you the momentum you need. If it works and your plan doesn’t work, you’ll find that it’s not that bad and I’m pretty sure it will be a lot easier to move on to the next plan.
