In my humble and seemingly “dumb” opinion, honesty, patience, understanding and tolerance fully integrated. is the only way to live sanely and realistically in this world. Any kind of extremism or active fear will not work. Sure, we can get thrown off balance, “draw ‘reality’ lines in the sand” and look at things with genuine prejudice, but for our own destructive ends, especially ourselves. Balanced thought, action and understanding are the key with the intellectual and spiritual leverage of self-awareness embracing courage over fear, active understanding rather than acting blindly and too quickly (often wrongly).
When I was watching the “storm on the United States Capitol” and the so-called “overthrow of the government” on January 6, 2021, I thought I’d write this article about the genuine need for honesty, patience, understanding, and tolerance. These are not just words too, I live this, and I will say it without flinching: for me, it is awareness above all and responsibility, genuinely hard-earned, gained knowledge and understanding with it. It’s not fair, acting for the sake of action in life.
In fact, there are times when we all feel anger, “lash syndrome” or whatever. I am simply here to tell you and me: Think before you act, and when you do act, act with full responsibility, understanding and awareness.
These words may not be entirely comfortable to read, nor do I claim they are: My words are sincere, clearly thought out, and from my genuine heart to yours. I know and understand that this is not enough for some people. That some will beat their drum in the dark in anger just to wake people up without thinking about the consequences. But, I’ll just be that little voice here that says “think deeply about what you’re doing and the consequences there and from.” That is.
To end on a very personal note, although this whole article is pretty personal: I’ll end with the words my dad Joe used to use when describing my kind of thinking and approach to life as well: I don’t game.
Sure, I have a sense of loyalty, compassion, fun, humor and love, but I do not play, I am serious with an awareness of intellectual and spiritual influence in that sense in all things of existence and life. In fact, in the end, blind fear, bigotry and blind prejudice is the ultimate weakness and the last foolish and unrealistic shot in the dark. Is reality all encompassing? Understand reality fully, then make your genuine judgment of reality.
