The Spider-Man franchise has spawned a multi-billion dollar industry around the world. From comics, movies, television, toys, souvenirs, games, etc. Whether you have a crush on Spider-Man or loathe Spider-Man, he is here to stay. For the most part, Spider-Man games are pretty entertaining. Personally, I’ve always had a great time with everything that is affiliated with Spider-Man.

The new Spider-Man video game is another one of those games that will undoubtedly enrich Stan Lee’s bank account even more. Spider-Man: Friend or Foe is a Spider-Man video game with an original perspective. That’s because players will see Spider-Man become an ally to his most malicious foes. Some of these adversaries are Green Goblin, Dr. Otto Octavius, Venom, and Sandman. The location of the game is not exclusively set in New York City; The lovable hero will also travel to different areas of Asia. There will also be a multiplayer component to the single player campaign. The plot of Spider-Man: Friend or Foe is absolutely ridiculous, but it’s okay. Spider-Man: Friend or Foe is about a meter that crashes to the ground with deadly repercussions. It’s a breath of fresh air to watch a groundbreaking Spider-Man story. Many gamers are tired of the same unoriginal plot with Spider-Man video games over and over again. If Spider-Man fans were able to get past the wacky story in Marvel Ultimate Alliance, then they will easily outgrow the story in Spider-Man: Friend or Foe. The game has all the bells and whistles that Spider-Man nerds (like me) will enjoy. There’s your traditional Spider-Man fast-paced maneuvers and web-throwing that will leave players dizzy.

On the contrary, there are some rudimentary puzzle-solving aspects to the game. Since Spider-Man: Friend or Foe is aimed at people ages 10-14, you won’t be expected to pull off a lot of intricate puzzles. However, a few puzzles peppered here and there are present to alter the tempo. Plus, you’ll be able to switch to a different character (wing Resident Evil 0) on the fly. Spider-Man: Friend or Foe is expected to be released for Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, PC, and PlayStation 2. Activision has not verified whether a PlayStation 3 version is in development. Not having a PlayStation 3 version from Spider-Man: Friend or Foe is illogical because Spider-Man and Sony are synonymous. Hopefully, a PlayStation 3 version will be announced soon. Spider-Man: Friend or Foe is slated for an October 2, 2007 release date.
