Tulane Law School is the 12th oldest law school in the country. It was established in 1847 and ranked 45th in US news. It is considered one of the best in Environmental Law, ranking 11th nationally, and also a national leader in Sports Law. They are also one of the world leaders in maritime law. The school at this educational institution was accredited by the American Bar Association in 1925, with a current student body of 750.

The student-faculty ratio is 15.1 with GPA 25th to 75th percentiles of 3.33 to 3.76. The LSAT is 159 to 163. The state of Louisiana is the only state in the nation governed by civil law rather than common law. This distinction gives his students a different perspective on his approach to the law.

One of the unusual requirements to receive a law degree for Tulane is the mandatory completion of 30 hours of community service. The first year contains 8 required courses. After that time, there is only the legal professions course that is required and the rest are elective courses.

The subject areas taught here include international law, comparative, corporate and commercial, sports, environmental, maritime, criminal, intellectual law, contentious procedures and tax procedural law.

This school was one of the first to offer a summer school abroad program to help broaden the horizons and thinking of its students.
