Over the past two to three decades, face painting has become a very popular type of entertainment. Children, for example, love this and most of the time, they prefer it at their parties. But as it has progressed, there has been growing concern regarding its contamination and how to counter it with proper hygiene. For a healthy and happy painting, here are some tips to follow:

• Always use products that are compatible with your skin. Refrain from using acrylics or markers or any other product that is not suitable for applying to the skin.
• If you have sores, skin conditions or cuts, do not paint. Doing so can increase pain and cause inflammation.
• Any tool used for this purpose must be kept in good condition. After each job, they must be properly cleaned and disinfected. Also, sponges should only be used once per color.
• Colors should be stored at a moderate temperature.
• Before storing, tools must be properly dried.
• The water used must be clean. Dirty water can irritate your child’s eyes.
• Use a baby wipe to clean the baby’s face from time to time while painting.
• Children under the age of three should never have this because they are just developing and could have an allergy.
• Colors generally don’t have any sun protection factors, so if your child is going to be outside for a long time, apply sunscreen lotion to their face.
• There will always be plenty of other kids who will try to get involved in the process, which can really upset the artists. Keep those kids under control so they don’t poke their noses in the process.
