5 killer tips for Facebook ads

1. Spy on other people’s ads

The biggest problem for many people is finding something good to promote on Facebook. The idiots at Facebook have created a bulletin board that lets you see everyone else’s ads. You have no idea why someone would do something so stupid, but they did. Just refresh your normal Facebook profile page until a Facebook ad appears and click the “More Ads” button. There you have it, a page full of ideas that are probably making other people money.

However, keep in mind that you will only be shown ads targeting your demographic, so you may want to create some fake Facebook accounts for different demographic groups to see what is being promoted to women / men / seniors / young people. / singles. / married people, etc.

2. make multiple announcements

Many times, you will create a Facebook ad that gets decent traffic, but doesn’t come close to filling your daily budget because you don’t get enough impressions. There are two good options to overcome this hurdle. First, you could do the obvious and increase your bid, which in turn will cause Facebook to give you more impressions per day and end up filling your daily budget. Second, and probably smarter, keep your bid the same and create a few more nearly identical ads. Assuming your CTR is almost the same across all ads, you should be able to fill your budget with 5 nearly identical ads if your original ad used 1/5 of your budget to start with.

3. Use a good image

The image you use for your ad will literally make or break it. You NEED to find a good one in order for your ad to perform well. When making the image for your ad, always save it in 110 × 80 px with the highest possible resolution. Pick something eye-catching. Something that definitely does not fit with the Facebook site. Using mostly black works well. Anything with hot girls is good as long as it is related to your ad and directed at guys. Piles of money, optical illusions, and expensive cars have worked well. Again, see tip no. 1 if you are having difficulties and check what other people are using to get ideas.

4. Post your ads at night

This one is pretty simple. Ads work best at night. I have no idea why, but they do. If you can afford not to get any clicks for the first half of the day, set your bid to 1 cent and wait until around 5pm EST or so and put your bid back to normal and watch the clicks fly .

5. Immediate orientation

A big mistake many people make when starting out with Facebook ads is targeting everyone in the American market. Facebook may not have as many targeting options, but it does have quite a few and they are quite accurate. The US market has a ton of people advertising in it, so try to target Canada. Most people don’t target by keyword, but doing so can turn into sales like crazy. If you are promoting some type of health supplement, try to think of keywords for people who exercise and are targeting them, or maybe vegetarians or vegans. These targeting options, while they can give you a narrower audience and less traffic, will give you an excellent CTR that will make your clicks cost next to nothing and will undoubtedly turn into much better sales.

The most important thing to remember when advertising on Facebook is this: it costs $ 0 to create an ad. Make as many as you can until you find one that makes money.
