Acidophilus acne: the way to clear skin

Acne is triggered by increased sebum production in the sweat glands. The sebum along with the dead skin cells tends to clog the pores creating an ideal breeding ground for bacteria. These bacteria, along with the breakdown products of sebum, irritate and inflame the pores that cause acne.

Other studies on acne show that it can also be caused by a digestive problem in which the skin becomes a toxin-eliminating organ due to poor digestion or chemical exposure.

Acne remedies

There are numerous acne cures available on the market that can be purchased and these include acidophilus supplements and acne medications. Acidophilus is a type of lactic acid bacteria that is believed to have beneficial effects on digestion and overall health. According to some studies, acidophilus was found to help treat acne.

Acne was also thought to be caused by some foods, as well as toxins that are produced due to poor digestion. Acidophilus is commonly found in dairy products like yogurt. For those people who are lactose intolerant, there are also acidophilus acne medications that can be purchased without a prescription.

Acidophilic acne medications come in capsules and powders. The capsule form of the acidophilus acne medication is prescribed in one or two capsules per day, while the acidophilus powder should be mixed with water and applied as a topical lotion on acne.

There are no known side effects caused by taking acidophilus medications, however, a regular intake of acidophilus is needed to control acne.
