Blue Light Therapy for Depressed Patients: How a Small Lamp Can Help You Beat the Winter Blues

Blue light therapy has been shown to be an effective treatment for SAD, seasonal affective disorder, or the “winter blues.”

This is a medical condition caused by the seasonal change in the amount of sunlight available.

It affects up to 10% of the population, especially in the north, with a greater variation in daylight from summer to winter.

Medical research has found that it affects women more than men at a ratio of almost 3 to 1.

In its mildest form, the “winter blues” includes lack of energy, depression, apathy, and cravings for sweets and carbohydrates, all of which I tend to experience from the first week of November to early March.

It can become more debilitating when it includes trouble sleeping, appetite or weight changes, memory loss, poor concentration, severe depression, and confusion.

Before using my blue light therapy box, I was dreading winter and just thinking about it made me very sad and depressed even more. However, I discovered this “miracle” box that has saved my life since I started using it about five years ago.

There are many different models, but the one I use and find great is the goLITE Bluewave Therapy Light from ApolloHealth.com, you can buy it directly or from Amazon.com.

If you get it and start using it, you will see the difference.

That little light box is one of my most prized possessions right now. It is so practical that you can take it anywhere.
