Do you like hearty southern Italian food served in large portions? Do you like to eat until you’re full and still have plenty of leftovers to take home? Do you like to eat where everything is delicious, fresh and well prepared? Do you like thick aromatic sauces on your spaghetti and other pastas and meats? Do you like a very varied menu? Do you like a loud and well-lit family style restaurant where it seems like one big constant party? Do you like restaurant employees, waiters and supervisors who treat you like a member of the family? Do you want to go where you can dress casual or dressy and not stand out in any way? Do you want a restaurant where they love children and want everyone to have fun? If the above sounds good, then you’ll love Buca di Beppo Italian restaurant in Old Town, Pasadena, California. By the way, the management is very attentive and if you are not happy with something, let them know and they will do their best to fix things.

I normally prefer quiet little dimly lit restaurants where I can relax and have a quiet conversation with my wife and/or guests, however the food and service are so good at this Buca di Beppo that every time I crave southern food from Italy, this is the place I choose. Also, my wife and I can invite two to several guests, try and not break the bank. At first glance, the prices of the portions seem quite high, however, each portion can feed two or three people with enough food for our guests to take home. Our biggest problem is deciding which entrees to order. They are all so good. Note: This is an extremely good place to host a birthday party or office function.

If there are only two of you, you can try eating on your fairly small patio and watch a few people, or you may want to eat at the kitchen table that seats six, which of course is in the kitchen. This is a very popular table and almost impossible to get without a reservation.

This restaurant is located at 80 West Green Street, Pasadena, CA 91105 on the corner of DeLacy and Green streets, on the corner of the Twin Palms restaurant kitty and on the edge of the Pasadena Old Town district. There isn’t much in the way of street parking, but there is a large parking lot on Delacy between Twin Palms and JJ Steak House restaurants. Reservations are not required for regular seating, but this place is extremely popular and reservations are a good idea. Buca’s phone number is (626) 792-7272.

After eating, you might find it a good idea to leave some of that food behind with a walk through the old town. The Old Town district has a lot to see and do. Visit the boutiques and shops, visit an art gallery, watch a movie, go dancing at one of the night spots, look at everyone else, or if you manage to work off a few calories, grab a coffee and cake at one of the restaurants from the sidewalk or bakeries.
