Number 3 Internet Smokescreen to Avoid: Math Doesn’t Work

I have a third internet smokescreen that I hear a lot from health professionals. Smokescreen is not a critical term, remember. I define it as an inaccurate, evasive and understandable reason why practices do not take advantage of the Internet for themselves.

My intention is to help you with your internet marketing and medical marketing in particular.

Smokescreen #3.

The math doesn’t work for me. I don’t have the time, or the experience, to do any or all of this Internet stuff.

FACT: I completely agree with you. Your best investment is staying focused on what you do best… your practice.

And, you need to find someone you trust to work with you, who knows what they’re doing and can introduce you well to their guide.

  • You may have a yellow page listing or a display ad. A seller did that for you.
  • You have business cards, I’m sure, but you probably didn’t design them and you certainly didn’t print them.
  • You can drive a car to work, but you didn’t build it.

I see practitioners who are already overworked trying to make the Internet themselves. The problem is that it requires investment of time, and the rules and tools change all the time. Wow! The good news is that Internet presence can be “done for you” these days. There are automated tools that make things easier. Most of the internet campaigns you see these days are being done by professionals.

Find an Internet expert who knows about healthcare marketing and who you like. You don’t have to do this yourself. One of your practice managers can do this for you.

try this for yourself

Let’s find out how to make math work for you.

  1. Write down the characteristics of your ideal client. What are they looking for?
  2. How much is a new customer worth to you? What is your long-term income with you?
  3. How much do you spend per month on any type of promotion? Include your own time in your hourly rate.
  4. How satisfied are you with your current promotion? Are you getting enough clients for your time and money?
  5. How much would it be worth to you to invest your resources in the Internet, which can work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, if done correctly?

FACT: Internet math does work when it’s done by someone who knows what they’re doing, makes you look, gives you a voice and presence, and attracts customers.
