Red Steel – Nintendo Wii – A Review

As most Wii users will tell you, the Wii interactive remote with a nunchuck is a great gaming experience. Particularly if you are mimicking the cut of a sword or the swing of a bat. However, the only thing that is difficult with the Wii remote is the difficulty in pointing the remote like a pistol; this becomes particularly evident in Red Steel. Holding the Wii remote in your hand in the traditional way means holding it in an overhead grip and aiming from the wrist. It is not the easiest to do, especially in the Red Steel game. I haven’t even finished the game due to this and other fatal glitches. In particular, the graphics are very dark; Maybe the game designers thought they were creating a mood, but when it becomes difficult to shoot your enemies because you can’t see them, then like shooting them, this game fails in the most important way. appearance – gameplay. The game also gave me a headache if I played it too long, a sure sign that the game was placing too many demands on the user’s eyes.

You can overcome the difficulty of aiming by purchasing the “pistol” setup accessory for your Wii that places the remote control on the front of a “rifle” and the nunchuck on the back of the “rifle butt”. I cannot advise if the straight gun accessory will work and it does not have this option advertised on the cover.

The plot is quite poor and with a lot of Japanese influence. You are a security guard for the daughter of a Yakuza crime lord and you end up being her new boyfriend (yeah sure, as I could see that really happened, rich people don’t marry with help!). While you go to visit his dad, all hell breaks loose and you spend the rest of the game going from one dark and graphically unappealing place to another shooting almost everything on site; It only gets interesting when you get to see a sword. Shoot em up is like the classic medal of honor series, leave this game for dead.

My advice is don’t waste your money on this one, it’s a lemon and it’s special for a reason.
