Mother’s Day is coming up soon – with gas prices the way they are right now, how can you afford to buy an expensive gift to celebrate the woman who gave birth to you, raised you, cared for you and loved you? If you spend a little time getting your thoughts down on paper now, it will help you create the perfect album before the big day! Now, let’s get to work!!!

The first thing you can do is start planning the project at hand. How do you want it to look? Is there a specific size you want it to be, or do you want it to be a specific color scheme or album shape? You can add more questions than these later, but starting with the questions listed here will ensure you design the perfect album for your gift recipient. This type of planner can be used for any type of gift album you are planning to make, just answer the questions based on the person you are giving the gift to!

1. Do you have a specific look in mind for the project, either in your head or from an ad or photo?

2. Do you have a sketch of what you have in mind for the pages?

3. Supplies you plan to use – Are there any certain kits, crafts, or products you want to use or supplies you already have?

4. What colors do you plan to use? What accent colors (such as white, ivory, brown, black, or gray) do you plan to use, if any?

5. Will you use Matt in your photos, or some of them? Will they all be the same, like 2 matte colors or different for each?

6. Keep a diary: will you do it by hand or on the computer?

7. Titles – Do you want each page (or set of pages) to have its own title, or a main title and smaller titles throughout the project?

8. Do you want all the embellishments to match or be different for each set of pages?

9. Is there anyone else you need comments, photos, or anything else from regarding this project?

One of my favorite projects to make is a small mini album, made with 5 sheets of 12 x 12 paper, embellishments, a few photos, a journal, and voila! I have made this type of album in many different ways, depending on the need at hand and the person receiving the gift!

When you’re thinking about making a scrapbook for mom, think outside the box! She already knows when you were born and the things around you, so find ways to make the album special to her!

  • Make a scrapbook for her to show her grandchildren.
  • Show off a fun collection or hobby he might have.
  • Make it in her favorite colors to put her favorite things.
  • Make one of her mother, filled with memories of her and places where she can put her own memories.
  • Make a recipe album for her with her own recipes.
  • Tell her why she’s a great mom.
  • Your favorite memories of her as a mother: include your siblings too.
  • Make it special by using things like buttons, fabric, or photos of someone special, making it even more special.

It doesn’t take much to make a unique album for your mom on her special day! I hope you enjoy making them as much as I do. They are beautiful and unique gifts for everyone! Mom deserves to be treated well: take a little time for her to do something she’s proud of!
