In the eighties, a movie titled ‘Mr. Mom’ starring Michael Keaton. The film featured a husband (Keaton) who was forced to stay home and take care of the children while his wife worked. It was a complete reversal of traditional roles, and of course, hilarity ensued. In those days, it was rare for a man to stay home with the children. It just wasn’t heard. Well, times have changed. There are more stay-at-home parents these days than ever before. With the women’s liberation and equality movements, women are securing higher paying jobs than ever before. This allows some men to stay at home while the wife works. These men are usually unable to earn money, leaving the woman as the main breadwinner for the family. But now, men can get a job from home and can earn money even while staying home with the kids.
Staying at home with children is not an easy task. You have to get the kids up in the morning, make sure they eat breakfast, put them down for a nap (depending on how old they are), feed them lunch, make sure they stay out of trouble, and so much more. There are so many responsibilities, in fact, that it leaves the parent with little else to do.
