The problem

Blackheads are pores (or holes) in the skin that become clogged with a mixture of dead skin cells and the skin’s own natural oil. If the pores are open to the air and clogged, they are called blackheads. This is due to their contact with the air that causes them to rust, which turns them black. However, if the clogs are covered with skin, no oxidation occurs and we call them whiteheads. All humans, to some degree, experience clogged pores from time to time, resulting in blackheads and whiteheads. If the clogged pores become infected and inflamed, they also fill with pus. When the pores become infected, it is known as acne.

The benefit of emu oil to treat clogged pores and acne

Emu oil helps in treating clogged pores and acne for the following reasons:

• Its chemical composition is very similar to the natural oil of our own skin. The oil penetrates deep into human skin when applied. This hydrates the skin, shrinks the appearance of enlarged pores, and loosens blackheads making them easier to dislodge.

• It is non-comedogenic, which means that it does not clog the pores of our skin. This is one of the remarkable characteristics of the oil.

• It is bacteriostatic, which means that it does not promote the growth or reproduction of bacteria, so when applied, it does not agitate any current acne conditions.

• It is highly concentrated with natural anti-inflammatory compounds that make it effective in calming the feel and appearance of acne infection.

Request

Pure emu oil can be applied directly to the skin, at least twice a day, to any area where there are clogged pores or any other infection or inflammation of the skin. It is suggested that for best results, treatment should be carried out for two to four weeks and then at least once a day as needed. Emu oil is 100% safe to use.

Blackhead removal

Many blackheads will come off on their own, but this can be helped with a gentle skin scrub. Whiteheads can be exposed to the air with a gentle skin scrub. Specialty products can also help remove blackheads. These products are available at your pharmacy.

Other skin conditions relieved

In addition to helping to treat blackheads, whiteheads, and acne, emu oil is also useful in helping to treat the following skin conditions:

• Bruises

• Cuts

• Dermatitis

• Eczema

• Psoriasis

• Rash

• Scrapes

• Sun burns

For these reasons, Aboriginal Australians have used emu oil for thousands of years as an “Elixir of Life” and it is now well known around the world as a first aid kit in a bottle.
