If you’re interested in trying the extreme sport of motocross racing, then listen up! It is a sport that is dangerous, but fun and truly addictive for most cyclists. The first step you should take is to go out to a motocross race and just watch to see how excited you are. If you’re that excited even at a local race, chances are you don’t enjoy the sport enough to continue after you start.
Once you’ve been to a race and still feel like racing, go find a suitable bike to fit your needs if you haven’t already. Another thing to get before you go riding is protective gear. The minimum equipment for this sport would be a helmet, motocross boots, long pants/shirt, gloves, and goggles.
Other great gear to consider would be a neck brace, knee pads/pads, bulletproof vests/or chest protector, and elbow pads. Once you have the right bike and gear, it’s time to ride. But before you head out for a run, you’ll want to check out the track by doing a practice run. This is to get you used to the idea of being on the track with other drivers. Also, you can go at your own pace. If you’re still interested in racing (and still in one piece) after practicing and getting a feel for your bike, then it’s time to head to your local racetrack. Have fun, stay safe and good luck!
