Cheerleading teams have many advantages that other sports simply don’t enjoy. I guess that goes without saying, especially in high school, but I would tell you that the same goes for those in college. Let me explain and give you a real life example here, if I may.

Over the years, I have participated in and planned many car wash fundraisers. He started out in high school, as he was president of many clubs on campus and also senior class president. One thing we always needed more of in our clubs and organizations was money – there was never enough for our unquenchable thirst for great events. In those days I had a business washing cars, boats and planes, mobile car washes and we used the equipment to clean cars at these fundraisers. Eventually, we got really good at organizing them and making a decent amount of money.

Still, we were never able to win as much as the cheerleading squad for obvious reasons. First, they could sell us 3:1 on presale car wash fundraiser tickets and on the day of the event they would pull cars off the street in droves with a simple “Cheerleader Car Wash” sign and a couple of girls on the corner in bathing suits. Hey, that’s not fair, but that’s life. Yes, a definite advantage indeed. It goes without saying that if you’re a parent entertainer or student advisor and your team needs money, a fundraiser of this type is fairly easy to pull off and very appropriate for the summer months.

The other day, I was talking to a mom at Starbucks who had a daughter who will be on the cheerleading squad in high school for the next calendar year. Her sister was a cheerleader a few years ago at that same school and the mom remembered how expensive cheer camp was, the competitions, the uniforms, and the travel expenses, and the mom really didn’t want to go through that again, nor does she want to to be assigned tasks at “another goddamn bake sale” I believe were his exact words. I explained the car wash fundraising strategy and how they could pre-sale tickets and use a busy corner to host the effort.

She remembered doing at least one such fundraiser a few years ago and thought it was funny, but she said she remembered getting sunburned, and I explained that with proper planning no one has to get sunburned and that the team at her daughter could earn whatever money they wanted. desperately needed. Please consider all this and think about it.
