Taking the personal route with christening gifts

I’ve never been to a christening before, but if I had, I know I’d have a hard time coming up with christening gift ideas. First of all, I wouldn’t know where to look. No doubt there are stores that sell some things that could work, but I can’t imagine a store’s collection being very extensive. And secondly, who are you really buying for? Most christenings are for babies, so do you buy christening gifts for babies, even if they don’t have the cognitive ability to recognize your gesture? Or is it therefore for parents?

If, like me, you’re stumped, but unlike me, you really need a christening gift, you’ll be glad to know there’s an easy solution. And when I say easy, I mean it. Go online and you will find a wide variety of personalized baptism gifts that, big surprise, you can personalize with a name or initials and sometimes a short message. Below is a little Top Five, just to give you some ideas…

Engraved Christening Gifts

The most obvious example of engraved baptism gifts are trinket boxes, usually available in square or heart shapes that can be personalized to include a name and message. The other big ones are piggy banks that come in all sorts of styles, from pirate ships and steam trains, to fire trucks and tractors.

photos of all things

On one side you have ceramic photo frames, on the other you have ‘My Freshman Photo Shoot’. But whatever you choose, you know it’s a surefire way to capture those first moments. Other photo gift ideas include faux leather baby albums, available in blue or pink, and complete with a small silver engraved plaque on the front.

Chinese porcelain gifts

Chinese porcelain baptism gifts incorporate everything from decorative plates to dainty keepsake boxes and pretty mantel clocks. There’s even another piggy bank, while the beauty of many of the items is that your chosen name and message are hand-painted onto the product.

something for your wall

What better way to brighten up a child’s room than with something personalized for the wall? Browse online and you’ll find children’s canvas prints for boys and girls, as well as custom name frames and ‘cut-out’ mounts. Take name frames, for example. These use illustrated characters, often animals, to spell your child’s name.
